What are Mom Morsels?
In Matthew 15: 22-28 New American Standard Bible a Canaanite (Gentile) woman came to Jesus seeking healing for her “grievously vexed” daughter.
Jesus’ FIRST response was to ignore her.
Jesus’ SECOND response was to give her another reason that he would not help her. He told her that He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel, but the woman came and worshipped Him anyway and pleaded “Lord, help me”.
Jesus’ THIRD response was to push her away again, answering that “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” But the woman replied, “Yes, Lord; but please help, for even the dogs feed on the crumbs (morsels) that fall from their master’s table.”
In response to her PERSISTENCE despite his three refusals to help her, Jesus healed her daughter and said the woman had great faith.
So all she really needed was a MORSEL from HIS TABLE.
So many times as a mom, I thought, if only I can get away with God for an hour or two, then I will have what I need from Him; then I will be satisfied. But raising five children and working part-time, I did not always have that amount of time.
What I didn’t know is that …
SOMETIMES ALL WE REALLY NEED IS JUST A MORSEL FROM HIS TABLE
and we can be healed, comforted, put at peace, needs met.
In this blog, I hope to give you SMALL MORSELS and some BIGGER BITES from the Master’s Table, to help you run after Jesus harder and fall in love with Him more.
In His love,
Suzanne
